Samuel D. Perra

November 14, 1940- January 12, 2021

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Samuel Perra (Sonny), age 80 passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Those who knew Sam (Sonny), will always remember his energy for hard work and telling you exactly in his style to what’s on his mind. His strong feelings about life’s events were shared with passion and stern convictions.

Sam (Sonny) will be missed by his Brother Thomas J. Perra and wife Deborah, Daughter Cindy Barrett and husband John, Stepdaughter Debra Vuono-Burke and husband James, Grandchildren Bobby Weber and wife Valerie, and Kelly Startz and husband Jason, and 4 Great grandchildren Taylor, Chance, Collin and Gage.

His wife Thelma past several years ago and was always by his side. When they married, they build a beautiful house together and that is where Sam lived out his life.

Sam was born in Westerly, RI and lived his life in Norwich and North Franklin. He worked in construction for over 50 years. When it came to construction projects his sharp wit and experience was available to family, friends and co-workers.

In recent years, Sam loved being involved with Franklin Senior Center and the Loyal Order of Moose. Sam loved sports, golf, and working with his hands, and spending time with Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who loved their Pop-Pop.
