He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria Edwards Lanoue; his son Jay of Gales Ferry, his daughter Rachel Pratt and her husband Michael of Groton, his grandchildren Rachel Pratt-Lanoue, Jacob Lanoue, Aiden Pratt and great grandson Jace Stedman. He was predeceased by his son Jason in 2015. He also leaves behind a sister, Diane of Inverness, Florida and two brothers Denis' and Raymond of Norwich.
Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a season ticket holder to the CT Sun Girls Basketball and one of UCONN Girls biggest fans. He had been a member of the Ledyard Boys League where he coached Baseball, Football, and Basketball. Most of the time he came up with the Championship team. He was known to many of the youth in town as Coach Lanoue.
Jerry was also an animal lover. He owned several dogs throughout the years and his little pug Ruby is surely missing him. As a young man he also owned several horses so it was only natural that he gave his granddaughter her first horse "Flirt" when she showed an interest. He spent some good times with her and her mother grooming and watching her participate in her horse shows.
For the past 20 years he took the family every summer to Lake George where he spent time with the kids swimming and sitting by the fire. His favorite vacation, however, was Disney World. He would take his own children every year and as grandchildren were added there were big family trips.
Jerry grew up in Taftville where he attended Sacred Heart School and NFA. He had resided in Gales Ferry for the last 43 years. He worked as a Nuclear Tester at Electric Boat for 41 years retiring in 2009.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, November 24th at the Poquetanuk Fire House, Route 2A. Preston with Fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help defray funeral costs.
