Oakdale-Donna Marie Wignall, age 66, of Oakdale, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Donna was born in Norwich, Connecticut on September 7, 1957 to the late Donald and Joyce (DesChamps) Ellal. She married Eric Wignall on April 29, 1989 at St. James Episcopal Church in Preston.
Donna was a kind, caring, giving person. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word puzzles, bird watching and good chocolate. Donna will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and beloved poodle Kelsey.
Besides her loving husband Eric, she leaves behind a brother Donald Ellal Jr. of Norwich, a brother William Ellal of Hanover, a sister Gina Dickinson and her husband Roger of Norwich and a special aunt Regina DesChamps of Hanover. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Donald Ellal III, Daniel Ellal, Amanda Ellal, and Corey Holowaty.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Church & Allen Funeral Service, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donna's memory may be made to Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Rd, Quaker Hill, Connecticut 06375 US.
