She is predeceased by her brothers, Orlando Decapio, of East Lyme, and Frank Pedro of Uncasville; also predeceased are her sisters, Concetta Supernant of Uncasville, Roselie Spencer of Groton and Angeline Dickman of Oakland, Calif. Carol was also predeceased by nephews, William Butler of New London, and Frank DeCapio and Richard Decapio of East Lyme; and niece Katherine Butler of New London.
She is survived by Lucy Laro of Brooklyn, Andrew Pedro and wife Diane of Oakdale, and Jerry Pedro of Billings, Mo.; and nephews and nieces: Michael Laro and wife Ann of Griswold, Linda Castleberry and husband Timothy of Groton, Valerie Reese of Waterford, Donna Bush and husband Chuck of Modesto, Calif., Elizabeth Walsh of Groton, Sue Moyer of Waterford, Teri Matrone and husband Robert of Bristol, R.I., John DeCapio of East Lyme, Craig Pedro and wife Michelle of Waterford, Cristin Pedro, Rochelle Garcia and husband Daniel of Modesto, Calif., Christine Dickman of Oakland, Calif., and Sandy Dickman of Oakland, Calif., and Adrian Robert Butler and husband Richard Maynard of Glastonbury. She loved all 13 great-nieces and nephews and her nine great-grandnephews and nieces.
Carol was an avid swimmer and gardener and was a very nurturing pet owner, leaving behind her two cats she loved dearly. Carol visited many of the local nursing homes as a bright light to many by volunteering at the Rose City Senior Center for Meals on Wheels. She was retired from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital after working in the food services division for 39 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Our Lady of Lakes, 752 Norwich-Salem Turnpike, Oakdale, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Cemetery in New London for burial.
