ECHOLA – William Charles "Chad" Pate, age 49, of Echola, Ala., died August 2, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Elrod Community Cemetery with Bro. George Shaddix officiating. Military services will follow in Elrod Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Shane Pate and grandparents, Limuel and Reda Mae Pate and Jim and Lorraine Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Danielle J. Pate; daughter, Courtney J. Pate, both of Echola, Ala.; son, Temple Cole Pate of Huntsville, Ala.; parents, Derrell and Lynda Pate; and sisters, Melissa P. Mauffray of Vancleave, Miss. and Redda Banks of Black Mountain, N.C.
Chad was honorably aboard to USS Butte during the Gulf War. He also served in the Alabama Army National Guard.
He previously worked at Phifer, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Mauffray, Ryan Mauffray, Gary Dickerson, Mike Wilges, Jason Pate and Josh Pate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama or to the American Cancer Society.
