TUSCALOOSA - Selena Latona Hicks, age 35, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama was born October 25, 1980 and passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016. She was born to parents Glenn and Cora Hicks of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
She is survived by her three brothers, Carlos A. Logan (Arnita), Mario D.Hicks (Meleah) and Staff Sergeant Myron A. Hicks (Sharon).
Also, she is survived by a special friend, Christopher Johnson and a host of family members and friends who love her dearly.
Selena graduated Central High School in 1999 where she was a part of JROTC and the Central High Chorus. She received her B.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kaplan University. She was a student in the Masters Program at Grand Canyon University. Selena began working at Tuscaloosa City Schools in August of 2000 where she worked as a bus aide and a Para-Professional for special needs children at Oakhill and University Place Schools. She also worked at The University of Alabama Brewer-Porch Children's Center as a Mental Health worker. Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Sunset Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park.
