Michael Miller officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Private burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip G. Nix.
Survivors include his wife, Monica Higgins Nix; his daughters, Alexis Claire Nix and Averie Camille Nix; his mother, Phyllis Nix; his sister, Jennifer Posada (Isaias); and his grandmother, Greta Nix.
Kevin was a loving and caring daddy, husband, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend who was sold out to God and completely devoted to his family. He loved his two precious girls and his wife, and they were the absolute light of his life. He lived every day to be the best daddy and husband he could be. He taught us all so much about love and life and how to show your love everyday. If you could choose one word to describe Kevin it would be “Coach”. Kevin was a coach and leader on and off the softball field. He has been a fast-pitch travel ball coach to his daughter Lexie and numerous Tuscaloosa girls for several years. These girls and this sport were a big part of his and his family’s life. Kevin loved teaching them the game and watching them grow. He has made so many friends over the years from coaches to parents and siblings of players. He taught the girls to respect their opponents and each other on and off the field. It was rare to see him even away from the park without his team shirt and visor boldly displayed. We know he would want to tell his girls to keep their chin up, play hard, and never forget what he has taught them along the way. We all love you so much and you will always be with us!
Pallbearers will be Randy Simpson, Kevin Watkins, Andy Roberts, Steve Olsen, Jeff Hannah, and Brian Farley.
Honorary pallbearers are City of Tuscaloosa Water Works and coaches, parents, and players of the U.S. Fastpitch Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the fund set up in memory of Kevin Nix at Alabama One Credit Union, 1215 Veterans Memorial Pkwy., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
