Gail adored being a stay at home mom for her 2 young kids while she ran a word processing business from her home office. Later, she worked with the City School Board, then County School Board, where she made lifelong friendships. Her love for her family was evident. Gail loved being on the lake, she was passionate about Alabama football, and found immense joy in organizing gatherings, where she was always the life of the party and made everyone around her laugh incessantly. She loved being “Nannie'' more than anything, and she poured all her energy into her grandkids. Gail delighted in shopping, baking, and gardening. She will be remembered as someone who loved with all her heart. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Lutricia Goodman White and Roy Sydney White, and her brother, Roy Goodman White.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Lennie Schmandt Sr., two children: Tricia Gray (Jason Gray) and Lennie Schmandt Jr. (Catherine Schmandt), grandchildren: Ryley Gray and Brooks Gray, sisters: Suzanne Wilson and Carolyn Bailes, brother: David Sydney, stepmother: Jayne White, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Lennie Schmandt Jr., Jason Gray, Joe Fisher, Vincent Cook, Jasper Terry, and Cory Cleveland.
