Mrs. Pope worked at Partlow State School for 28 years. She enjoyed spending time after her retirement, still visiting and caring for patients and staff members for many years. Throughout her illness, many who had worked with Mrs. Pope, not only cared for her, but came to visit with her frequently, and shared stories of how she touched their lives. She was a member of Five Points Baptist Church.
For those who had the amazing honor of knowing “Mawmaw,” you knew her deep love of her family. She had a strong commitment to ensuring that her family spent time together, as much as possible, and never went a moment without knowing of her love for them. Because of her caring nature, her family extended far outside of her blood relatives. Mawmaw always dressed in the latest fashion, and spent Friday evenings with her husband, at the Northport Civic Center, at the square dances.
Mrs. Pope was passionate about the color purple; she loved anything purple, from her clothing to her décor. The meaning of the color purple describes her perfectly: intuitive, spiritual, wise, noble, sensitive, and loving. We can only imagine that her Heavenly home with Pawpaw must surely be a beautiful, deep, rich, shade of purple.
Pallbearers will be Johnny White, Ricky Williams, Michael Morgan & Chris Ledbetter.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn Haven Station 1 Staff, Hospice of West Alabama, Lucille Brown Home Health, Members of Five Points Baptist Church, Larry Boyd, Jason Essary, DCH 6th Floor Staff, Employees of Christy’s Boutique and Martinview Assisted Living Staff. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Pope's name to Hospice of West Alabama and Quilt Missions 5 Points ask name.
Mawmaw, we thank you for all you taught us and the spiritual gifts you gave to us. You led us to a life focused on God; you filled us with love in a way that we know you will always be with us on earth until we meet you and Pawpaw again in Heaven.
