Services will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park chapel on June 19 at 11am. Visitation will be one hour prior. Kerry Richardson will officiate.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rayburn S. Collins; brothers, Jerry L. Collins and Richard H. Collins; and close cousin Mike Collins (Deborah).
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Charlene (Champion) Collins; wife, Teresa Lynn (Sisson) Collins; daughter, Mary Kayla Kilgo (Paul); grandson, Henry James Kilgo; siblings: Annette Tingle (L.E.) and Ray S. Collins (Vickie); and close cousins: Bob Collins (Cindy), Sammy Collins (Sandra), and Phillip Rushing.
Doug was born in Hammond, IN, but a lifelong resident of Northport. A carpenter by trade, he worked in construction before joining the Tuscaloosa County School System's maintenance department for 20 years. He was a family man, and excelled as a husband, father, and pawpaw.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Coley, Clay Criss, Wes Davidson, Jacob Channell, Yancy Collins, and Randy Collins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Collins, Chris Collins, Joseph Collins, Andy Collins, John and Suk Hubbard, Christy Holemon, Tim Willcutt, Herman and Tammie Martin, Dr. John Dubay and Acton Road staff, and Dr. John Summerford.
