into the mystic.”
Mike was born October 3, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario and passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home of natural causes on July 19, 2022.
He will forever be cherished by his wife, his ‘brown-eyed girl’, Monika Heike; his devoted and beloved daughters Shelly McDonnell (Adam) and Colleen Paul; his dear sister Gayle Buck (Merv) and brother Bill Paul; his grandchildren Robert, Jade, Colin, Holly, Summer, and Violet; and his beloved cat Maggie.
He is predeceased by, and is now embraced by, his parents Roy Paul and Eileen Howse, and his brothers Pat and Jim.
Mike will be remembered by all his family and friends for his generosity, kindness, and his sense of humour.
Mike’s passions were many, particularly music, and most recently, learning and playing the guitar. Now in guitar-heaven, he’ll be passionately jammin’ with his guitar idols. He also loved cycling, yoga, kayaking, and hunting down a good deal.
He never let his early onset diabetes stop him from living an active and full life. His adventures included sailboat racing with his dad on Lake Ontario, hiking the West Coast Trail, scuba diving in the Pacific North West and Mexico, sea kayaking on Vancouver Island’s West Coast, and local, long-distance cycling on his recumbent bike.
As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no service, memorial, or formal celebration of life.
We can honour and remember Mike with a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
