I taught with Margaret for 17 years, and I have never met a better person.
Like everyone, I am very sorry to see her light leave the world. 
But truly, who cannot but be happy to have known her, and to thus have known real goodness in a person?
It was a privilege, Margaret.

to cousin Gregory, laura and children my deepest sympathy to you all. Aunty Margaret was a remarkable lady with a kind, gentle, loving soul, my girls and I will miss her deeply she will will always live on her our hearts and memory.

Taken on 1st January 2019, this is how I remember my beautiful Aunty Margaret. We had a wonderful visit that year, one of our last 🩷

Very sorry to hear this and send condolences to Mrs William's family. She was very memorable as a teacher who was passionate about encouraging us to enjoy language; reading; poetry... And very often, particularly when I read or hear Shakespeare, I think of being in her class. She influenced many.!

Dear Margaret, who was an inspiration and support to me in our years at Garibaldi Secondary in Maple Ridge, was a wonderful colleague and friend always.  In her gentle way, Margaret showed incredible strength and her dedication to students and colleagues never wavered.  This continued after her retirement when every summer she hosted a fabulous luncheon for fellow retirees. 
My sincere condolences to Greg and Laura and her adored grandchildren.

For almost 30 years Margaret and I drove back and forth together, from North Van to Maple Ridge. She initiated this in 1970 and our carpool gradually increased to three or four. She taught English and I math.  We started out as young teachers at Garibaldi. 
 I miss her a great deal

Mrs. Williams was my English teacher in my 12th grade in 1997. My parents recently immigrated from Iran and I was learning English that very year. she was always supportive and stayed long hours after class helping me with my assignments and encouraged me to never give up. I have many great memories of her and still hear her voice. we moved to United States and I studied chemical engineering and subsequently went to medical school and became an Interventional Cardiologist. If it wasn’t for her and her constant encouragement and support, I would’ve not been able to save lives day after day. I want to express my deepest condolences to her family. she influenced so many students like me and her memory will stay alive with so many of us.

Margaret was my English teacher in the 80’s and I loved her classes so much that I became an English teacher myself. She challenged me, and made me love literature and writing. My condolences to her family and friends. ❤️

My thoughts and prayers go to Greg. Laura and family on the sad passing of their mother Margeret.  I have many memories of her in the 1960's before She and Des moved to Canada.

Aunty Margaret, you will be missed.  Many fond memories of your visits down under.  Your kindness, patience, and wisdom set a standard for me and hold a special place in my heart.

I count my blessings that I began my teaching career in the same high school that Margaret Williams taught.  She showed us ‘newbies’ what teaching excellence was .. through her work with her students and through her dedication to the profession.  I believe she made me a better teacher.  Margaret was kind, classy, and witty.  I still think of her with that ‘twinkle’ in her eye and a smile for me whenever I sought her out for advice.  Such a great sense of humor and a person who knows how to have fun.  I remember a staff party at a colleague’s home when Margaret was the only brave soul to put on a swim suit and cap to take advantage of the swimming pool!  I thought she was so very cool!  My heartfelt condolences to Margaret’s family for your loss.

What a special lady.  The only teacher able to settle a classroom of teenagers by whispering.  And the only person a self-conscious 17 year-old would share his poetry with, before he met his wife years later.  She would roll her eyes at anyone beginning a sentence with “and”.  Did not return to GSS to visit sadly, but never forgot her.   She was a gift to many.

I am truly sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing.  When I arrived at Garibaldi, Margaret was part of the “Old Guard” - spoken with the greatest of respect!  I taught down in the gym full time and Margaret taught upstairs so we didn’t meet very often during the day.  Initially I was very intimidated when interacting with her.  I tried to watch my posture and my grammar but there was no need to worry.  She was always very polite and attentive and had a natural ability to put people at ease.  I have two very endearing memories of her.  One, when I was supervising an English final exam, she briefly appeared to look for students who were absent so she could phone them at home and encourage them to attend and write the exam - now that is a dedicated teacher!  The second is when she spoke of her father who was always encouraging her to be an independent woman.  He had told her all she would need was a device to assist her when she was opening jars, he then presented her with it and she still has it.  I will always remember you Margaret with an endearing smile.
I am still working on my posture!

I had the great good fortune both to have been taught English by Margaret for four years, and to have worked alongside her in the Garibaldi English Department for eight years. It was a special experience — life-changing — that I was able to teach the subject that I was inspired to devote my life to by Mrs. Williams. It is even more special that we became good friends. Garibaldi has benefited from the talents of some of the finest teachers in the district over the years, and we tend to keep them (Margaret taught her whole career at GSS). She was in the first rank — dedicated to a fault, taking care of her students and colleagues (even visiting when she had retired, and offering to do our photocopying for us).

Margaret was a wonderful person and a consummate educator. As a new, young teacher at Garibaldi I respected and admired Margaret – she was kind, generous and gentle toward both students and colleagues, and she always had high expectations for her students and herself. I always appreciated her kind support and advice. We all missed her when she retired. My deepest condolences to the family.

I worked with Margaret at Garibaldi Secondary.  She was a wonderful lady with a great sense of humour.  She will be missed. My condolences to her family.

I worked with Margaret at Garibaldi Secondary for several years. She was a kind and caring teacher. She was always generous with her time and had lots of helpful advice.  She had a great sense of humour and she was an excellent role model. I am so sorry for your loss!
