Karen Margaret Barlow (nee Kirkhus). It is with deepest sadness that we announce that Karen passed away peacefully in North Vancouver on December 17, 2017. Only weeks before, she lost her daughter, the passing of Debbie was very hard; she loved her children so much. Also gone before her, husband George (Ted) Barlow in 1987, her parents Ole (Pete) and Margaret Kirkhus, siblings Glen and Tracy Kirkhus and her sisters-in-law Joy Kirkhus and Jacquie Beck.
She will be deeply missed by her remaining children Deanna (Jim), Tanya (Ken) and Rory (Stephanie) as well as her brother Dale (Marilyn) Kirkhus, sister Irene (Gerry) Littlejohns, sister-in-law Beverley Kirkhus and brothers-in-law Jack Beck and Keith Haith. Karen was a proud grandmother to Jamie, Brya, Cara and Alix Pender, Tyler and Andrew Sunde, Nathan Perrins and great-grand mother to Charley and Cash Carter, she also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Karen was born in Vancouver & raised in the home her father built in East Vancouver. In 1967, after marrying and starting a family she moved to the Dollarton area of North Vancouver where they raised their 4 children. For 50 years Karen had the family home on Friar Crescent, the home was a constant flow of friends and family, everyone was welcome. She will be greatly missed by many, family and friends meant everything to her.
A celebration of life will be held at Seymour Golf and Country Club on Sunday March 4th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
