James Edward Rider, age 69 years, passed away suddenly but peacefully in North Vancouver on August 12th, 2018. Jim was born in Dorval, Québec on October 25th, 1948 to parents Perciville and Margaret Rider. He grew up there with younger siblings Michael and Shirley.
Many of Jim’s childhood and teenage summers were spent in Lac−Mégantic,Québec (Berry Brow Farm).
Jim graduated from Sir George Williams University (Concordia University) and worked as a Professional Mechanical Engineer for nearly 40 years.
He wed Ana Rider in 1979 in Lima, Peru and together they raised their three boys in Ontario and British Columbia.
Jim enjoyed golf, hockey, antiquing and seeing the world through his international career, picking
up culture and languages along the way.
He is survived by his sons David (Sara), Danny (Kirsten), and Dennis (Jenna), Ana’s family, his brother Michael, grandchildren Elena and Lydia, spouse Florie, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC SPCA or Diabetes Canada in Jim’s memory.
A celebration of life will be held from12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on 2018−08−25 at Mount Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Avenue, North Vancouver, BC, Canada.
