Dorothy Elinor Gould

Dot was born on March 27, 1929 in Vancouver, BC. She grew up in the Marpole area and attended Magee high school. Dot went on to work for Marshall Wells Hardware Store for several years working as a Comptometer Operator . She met her love Gavin and married in September 16, 1950. They moved to the North Shore where they raised their 5 children. They also found time to enjoy boating, fishing, travelling in their trailer, visiting Salt Spring Island, Penticton and spending time with family and friends.

In later years Dot took up writing and joined the North Shore Writers’ Association. It was a great outlet for her quick wit and she contributed to many published collections of their work. She enjoyed the camaraderie of the group and it was there she met her companion of many years, Gerhard Winkler. Dot developed a love of travelling and cruising in particular. Alaska was her favourite destination and she was able to cruise there at least 10 times, taking most of the grandchildren one at a time. Dorothy traveled to many fabulous locations in the world a few being a visit to Antarctica, Cruised the Yangtze River and visited the Amazon Rain Forest.

Dot was predeceased by her husband Gavin (1995) and her son Gavin Richard (2011). She will be greatly missed by her children David (Kiane), Gary (Pam), Linda (Tammy), (Brenda), Bart (Rhonda), her grandchildren Erin (Gary), Kelsey (Mike), Andrew (Sofia), Sarah (Jason), Stephanie (Jeff), Jessie (Adam), Danielle, Matthew and great grandchildren Hendrix, Briar, Mya, Hayden, Charlie, Grace, Cali, Leah, Luke, Eden and Grayson.

Dot was a wonderful, generous and kind person. She had a great sense of humour and we know that along with the tears we will be smiling with all the wonderful memories she gave us.
