Dr. Barbara Cynthia Ng passed away on June 20, 2021 in North Vancouver at 42 years of age. As an Internist at Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health, and to all who knew her, she was known for her sincerity, compassion and empathy.
Barbara was born on October 18, 1978 in Montréal to a loving family, where she made lifelong friendships attending Miss Edgar's & Miss Cramp's School, Marianopolis College, and McGill University. She completed degrees in Architecture and Physiotherapy, working briefly in each field before finding her life's calling in Medicine. She pursued residency training at Yale-New Haven Health Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut while having two children, qualifying as an Internist, and completed further residency training at University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 2019.
Barbara gave her life to Christ in 2006 and was baptised at People's Church of Montréal on September 14, 2008. Her faith sustained her throughout her fight against a rare, aggressive sarcoma. She is survived by her devoted family: husband Eric, son Brighton, daughter Joelle, parents Pui Ying (James) and Kitty, parents-in-law Gilbert and Alison, sister Nancy and her husband Jeff and children Annique and Julien, sister-in-law Tracy, and a loving extended family.
A small private funeral and burial will be held, followed by an open Memorial Service on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:00am in North Vancouver, BC. Friends, family and colleagues are invited to contribute memories of Barbara in a book for her children (newlywords.com/barbarang).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation (lghfoundation.com/tributes) or Camp Massawippi (habilitas.ca/donate-camp-dining-hall/).
Please join us for a Memorial Service to celebrate Barbara’s life.
