It gives us great sorrow to announce that Alastaire Campbell Edward Wright has passed away Monday on the 18th of December 2023 at the age of 33 in Vancouver, BC.
Alastaire was born at the Grace Hospital (BC Women’s hospital today) in Vancouver of August 14th of the year 1990. The youngest of 3 boys to his father Allan Wright and mother Francis Mazurenko. Alastiare had lived in Vancouver until the age of 4 when his family moved to Port Coquitlam. There, his brothers and himself attended school at Lincoln Elementary.
Alastaire and his brothers; Alvin and Alex were all close in age as only 14 months separated them. All only a year apart in school grades.
Being the youngest, Alastaire could do no wrong in the eyes of those that loved him. His humor and innocence was endearing to a fault. As he grew older, it became quickly apparent that he was an individual who was both independent and care-free. Material things certainly weren’t as significant as experiencing nature was to Alastaire, or as rewarding as helping others. He enjoyed the simple things such as animals, hiking, fishing, swimming at the beach or exploring the outdoors anyway he could. His heart belonged to the mountains.
As an adult, Alastaire lived in Kamloops on Stump Lake. Here he helped build the house and home of Rob and Caroline Getz, his second family. He seemed most content these days, doing what he loved in the good company of family and of course the family dog “Bob”.
Despite his struggles in life and the losses of big brothers Alvin in 2010 and Alex in 2017, Alastaire never lost his ability to remain kind and keep his happy disposition. Proud, he always reassured family he was fine and preferred to grieve in solitude. He always lived on his own terms and marched to the beat of his own drum.
Alastaire’s family would never stop encouraging Alastaire to reach out to them if he needed any help on his healing journey or support in anyway. A conversation that would often be heavy as Alastaire was not always ready to face hardships and accept the help. Stubborn and determined to convince his loved ones he was fine and not in need of the support.
Alastaire is survived by his son Alvin, his father Allan, mother Frances, niece Alyssa, grandmother Ethel and many other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family and friends. So many hearts still beat for our Alastaire.
Predeceased by his big brothers Alvin and Alex; grandparents Anne and Jeff; cousin Chantel, aunt Bonnie and brother-in-law Nick.
