North Palm Beach - Virginia (Jinny) Lee Shelton Scott, age 95, of North Palm Beach, passed on October 22, 2021 after a long battle with blood cancer. Virginia was born on January 17th 1926, in Charlotte, North Carolina to Stephen Birch Shelton and Christine Swanson Shelton. She was raised and attended schools in that city and then moved to Miami with family during World War II years. She met and married Robert C. Scott (deceased) who was attending the University of Miami Law School. They started a family and were expecting a third child when he graduated law school. They then moved to Palm Beach County and she had her fourth child. They moved to North Palm Beach in 1958 where she was very involved with her children's activities, becoming President of Little League Auxiliary and a Brownie Leader. She and her husband enjoyed travel and attended many Florida Bar meetings in state and out. She was completely devastated when she lost him to cancer in 1982. She is a two time cancer survivor herself; but this third was too much to fight off!
She enjoyed her grandchildren and was happy to be involved in their lives helping out when needed. She made lasting friends when she attended Jazzercise for 27 years and met most months for birthday celebrations. After 26 years as a volunteer at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center she received an honorary membership, and made many lasting friendships there. Jinny liked working in the yard and gardening and loved to read and travel with friends and of course shopping best of all!!! Jinny is survived by her children; son Robert Jr., daughters Leslie (Jimmy), Dama and Phyllis, and grandchildren Adam, (Renee), T.J., Lane (Rodney), Daniel (Jamie), Scott (Jessi), David (Sade), and Carter; and six great grandchildren: Harper, Charlotte, Declan, her namesake Virginia, Wyatt and Willow. The family invites friends to the funeral service at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 13, at Howard Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy 1, North Palm Beach. A private family gathering will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens for interment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Auxiliary in her honor.
