Virginia "Gee Gee" Stafford Finklea

Gee Gee was born on September 11, 1936, in Charleston, West Virginia, and graduated from Charleston High School in 1955. Gee Gee married Donald Finklea on February 21, 1959, and they were together 46 years before Donald passed. Gee Gee was a genius with numbers and was a bookkeeper for several companies, and a good portion of them was spent at Nozzle Nolen where she made lifelong friends. Her heart for Christ was evident in the care she took for others. Once retired, Gee Gee helped take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren daily. Gee-gee loved Jesus and her church deeply and she was a member of Tropical Sands Christian Church for 38 years. She poured love into countless cookies and pieces of fudge for bake sales and worked endless hours helping keep the church finances and organizing and working rummage sales. She was at her happiest when surrounded by the beautiful women of the church sharing stories and cooking. Gee Gee loved to read all things romantic, and Harlequin was her favorite with love always winning in the end. Gee Gee’s army-sized dinners always brought the family together. Gee Gee was predeceased by her father and mother, Sherwood and Ardenna (Denny) Stafford, her husband of 47 years, Donald; her sons, Michael and David Finklea; her son-in-law, Jim Smollon, and grandson, Eddie Finklea. Gee Gee is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Finklea Smollon; grandson, Matthew (Margaret) Smollon; daughter and granddaughter, Star Finklea-Callahan; great-granddaughters, Sierra and Morghan Callahan; great-great-granddaughter, Aria Ellis; brother, Rhett Stafford; niece, Sonia (Jerry) Stafford Finley; nephew, Eric Stafford; son Donald Jr., and daughters-in-law, Debi Newpher and Carla Finklea. There will be a Celebration of Life at Tropical Sands Christian Church at 2726 Burns Rd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 33410, on July 8, 2023, at 2 pm.
