Robert Eugene Spreen, age 76, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Frederick and Anna (Donohue) Spreen. He resided most of his life in Hawthorne, NJ and was a graduate of Hawthorne High School. He received a Bachelors degree from William Paterson University, and a Master’s degree from Montclair State University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Robert was a lifelong educator and began his teaching career at Manchester Regional High School where he taught math and coached basketball. He became Principal and then Assistant Superintendent until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the NJEA, NEA and NJPSA. He was the President of Woodland Lakes Condo Association. He leaves behind his two daughters, Dr. Carol Anne Spreen and Lynne Spreen-Raffo, RN and husband Giovanni, and four grandchildren, Gianpaolo and Gabriella Raffo, and Iain and Arin Sprigman. Also surviving are sister Margaret Kruger of Oakland, John Spreen of Hawthorne, Daniel Spreen of Clifton, Fred Spreen of Pompton Lakes and Joseph Spreen of Pompton Plains, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Howard-Price Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy. One, North Palm Beach, Fl 33408 on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 3:00-4:30 with a Memorial Service at 4:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County, the American Diabetes Association, the Salvation Army or the Disabled American Veterans.
