Patricia “Pat” Ann Mincey, born April 8, 1927, 86, passed away from complications from cancer on December 26, 2013. Born in Elmira, NY, Pat relocated to Manhattan after high school, where she worked at a bank and met her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Wilbur. They relocated to South Florida and had four children together. As a young wife and mother in the 1950’s, Pat obtained her Master’s Degree in English and Education from the University of Miami, after which she served as an elementary school teacher and administrator in the Palm Beach County School System for over forty years. Upon her retirement, Pat continued to tutor children in reading and she remained an active member of Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. Pat will be remembered for her strong work ethic and inner convictions, her vigorous mind and spirit, her passion for learning and her faithful devotion to her family and friends.
She is survived by her four children: Wilbur (Mirlene) Mincey, Jimmy Mincey, Melissa (Jeff) Adinolfe and Meriann (Dennis) Meroney; her grandchildren Jason Mincey and wife Nicole and Taylor and Katie Rawls, and several nieces (most notably Christine Rowlee) and nephews (most notably John (Eva) and Jim (Jeanne) Rowlee).
The family will receive friends (TODAY) Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Howard-Price Funeral Home from 2-4pm with a Scripture Service starting at 3:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL.
