Mike continues to have a larger than life impact upon those he served with both in the USMC and NPBPD.

A week doesn’t pass that I don’t hear a Mike story by those so positively impacted by his friendship and leadership.

If people could all act more like Mike, we could have a better world.

Kim, this is Linda Stewart, Tyler Stewart’s mom. I’m so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. You & Mike are a true love story. I say are because love never ends💙❤️. I know how hard a time you’re having &  Even tho’ no two people grieve exactly alike I fully understand the emotions, the desperation that you’re going through. Kim, I am so sorry for your loss; for our loss. You and Mike were truly "til death do you part". I'll never forget the first time I saw him with you; the way he was looking at you I knew that you were "the one".  That has been evidenced by the life you built together and the memories you have made. Evidenced by the way you loved and treated each other; by the way you cared for him when he was ill. I appreciate you and Mike's friendship, laughter, good vibes and being close neighbors in two different neighborhoods. He will not be forgotten, and we should all live our lives with the same kindness, humor and grace that he did. Love always..... 



I can remember the day like it was yesterday, Kim bought "Sophie" in for an exam. Sophie is her adorable  dog, I am her vet.   Kim and I were chatting about Sophie  in the exam room, when the door opens and in pops Mike .  A smile on his face and a drink in his hand, coffee that is.   He Just dropped by to bring  Kim a cup of coffee .   After he left I said to Kim" that was so nice of him". she said "he does that kinda thing all the time" .   So nice, so thoughtful.   The devotion and love they had for each other was insurmountable.   Hugs Kim

Dear Kimmie, you and Mike were beyond blessed to share such a genuine and beautiful love. You are both the most selfless people I have ever met and I am so lucky to have you guys in my life. You have both always been there for me and my family in more ways than you could ever know. You are in our prayers every day and even though this is so unfathomably difficult for you, you must never ever forget that he is always with you. Dear Kimmie,

Mike was truly a special person, and such a major addition to our family. He would drop everything to help our family, and was always laughing, always smiling. He did whatever he could to make the little things count and to be special. When I got my first car, I went to him for advice on what would be good to keep in my car as a first-aid kit since I was looking to buy one online. He came to my house a few days later with a kit that he curated just for me. It had (has) everything I could ever need and more in it. Him going out of his way to do that for me made getting my first car just that much more special. 

The love and unwavering dedication between you two is undeniable, and I can only pray to have that within my lifetime. He loves you so much that even when he couldn’t speak or eat that he would still reach out for you, kiss you, and nod to say that he loves you back. I am so heartbroken that you both had to go through this, but you are extensions of one another. Even though he is gone, he is with you and you are with him.
I love you both.

Mike was truly such a special person. Always supportive, always laughing, always smiling. He was and still is such a major addition to our family. Dearest Kimmie, Mike (I know you are near) and family, I believe there are no coincidences in life.  Kimmie and I, and then Mike, met under rather unusual circumstances. I am Kim’s neighbor and live at one end of the block, and she at the other end.  I was driving down the street one day and see a car backing out of a space into the road.  I tried to swerve out of its way, but it was too late. Our cars collided.  The lady who was backing out was Kimmie.....with an attitude!  🤦‍♀️  And then there was me, irritated that my new car just got hit.  We both exited our cars, had some not very nice words with each other, blaming the other for the accident.  Then she announced that her husband was a “cop” and called him out.   Maybe because I watch too many dirty cop shows, I figured I am done,  the truth will be “stretched’ and I will be blamed.  So out comes Mike Pietrowski.  Kim tells him the situation. No need for me to say anything😗  If it we’re my husband, he darn better stick up for me!  Well, Mike turned to his wife and said “it’s your fault.”  Meet  Mike Pietrowski, an honorable man, an honest cop, who would not even stretch the truth for his wife.  That defines Mike.  I had immediate respect and admiration for him.  Kimmie’s rescue dogs then jumped out the car with their tails a waggin and melted my heart and helped  Kimmie and I connect on a much better note. Our love for animals! Because of the accident, we became fast and dear friends.   I met two beautiful human beings that day - a man who protects and serves with the utmost integrity, and his wife, who would give you her last dime if you or your fur babies needed it !👍🏻🙏💜.  And, a woman who exemplified what “for better or for worse” truly means.  Mike, I know you were with us today at your celebration of  life.  Your spirit is free now.  You have completed your  mission here  on this earthly plane and you have earned your right to transition.  Kimmie will be fine and I know you two will reunite one day!  💜

From the moment I met you and Mike, I just liked you guys. You are my kind of people. It was so obvious in such a short time how much Mike adored you, and what a great love story you two shared. These past few months I have watched you be the most loyal, dedicated, and loving wife. If nothing else I am inspired by you, and will think of just how serious you took the vow, in sickness and in health, as I say my vows next month. I wish I had the privilege of knowing Mike sooner. The previous memories shared on this page bring  me to tears. Mike will be missed forever by all.  Love you, and I will be here for you in the coming months. Trust in your faith.

You are the best partner I had during my time as a detective. From the first time I helped you walk a warrant through at the courthouse and said “play it cool man, like you’ve done this before” and the VERY FIRST THING you said to the judge was “this is my first time applying for a warrant”, I laughed so hard that I knew we would have a great time working together from that point on! We shared a lot of good memories in there that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You are a prankster who not only could dish it out, but more importantly could take it. You are an honest, loyal, and hardworking detective who I will always consider to be one of my favorite reasons to come to work. You made a stressful and demanding job fun and I thank you for that. You have the heart of a child and some of my favorite times were watching you get excited about an arrest, a tv show, a piece of coconut mounds cake, or the time you learned that sweet potato fries were a real thing! I’ve chosen to say “you are” throughout this post as opposed to “you were” because in my mind and in my heart you may not be with us like we are used to, but you ARE with us. Forever bro. I love you.

Your love for Mike was so evident.  I came across this scripture and thought of you.  With all humility & gentleness, with patience bearing with one another in love,  Ephesian 4:2.  Being a police officer's wife takes strength and patience and  you definitely displayed those characteristics.  We love you and you will be in our thoughts and prayers.  I will reach out to you soon.



Mike Piotrowski spent his life being a dedicated and loving son, son in law, a devoted best friend and husband to his wife Kim.

Mike will always be a hard charging Marine and cop. He was kind, loyal and devoted to his friends. He was the first in and last to leave at NPBPD. In a critical incident, he was always first through the door and always had his fellow police officer's  6.

My condolences to his entire family and his best friend Mike Barbera, a Major at JPD who was a lifelong friend to Mike and served in the USMC alongside Mike.

Mike is gone but, will never be forgotten. His service to his country and community is second to none.
