Simone (Thomas) Everett was born on August 25, 1948 to Lazarine Joasile and Jules Thomas who are both deceased. She is survived by four children (Fernand, Raymond, Jacqueline, and Timothy) as well as many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Simone was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where she completed her primary and high school studies. She later migrated to The Bahamas and lived there for several years before taking permanent residence in Miami, FL in 1974. While living in Miami, she met and married David Everett who preceded her in death.
Simone would often speak of when she was a young girl, of “liking to fight a lot.” That fighting spirit continued into adulthood in how she worked tirelessly against all obstacles to support her family, both here in Miami and back home in Haiti, as a single parent. She worked for many years as a seamstress and made sure to instill the importance of education to her children; encouraging them to continue in their studies. She continued to fight earlier this year, when she contracted the Covid-19 virus. She fought long and hard and won the battle against Covid but she sadly succumbed to the complications brought on by the virus on July 19, 2021. We will always remember her as a fighter; always as a warrior.
She is the root
That bore the fruit
And we follow in her steps
There is no more pain
let Jesus reign
Now she can take her rest
