Hubert Eduh

Hubert was born January 2, 1945, in the parish of St. Mary, Jamaica, to Abdul and Estella Eduh. He was the fifth of eight children. Hubert's early education began at Elliot Primary School, and in 1970, he married Hazel Gordon, who would later become his lifelong partner until her passing in 2021.

In 1970, Hubert began his working life at the JOS Bus System in Jamaica. Afterward, he relocated to St. Ann with his family, where he worked as a truck driver and farmer. It was in this community that he earned the nickname "Mr. Chin" due to his hard work and friendly demeanor.

In 1985, seeking better opportunities for his family, Hubert migrated to the United States. There, he worked as a forklift operator at Publix Warehouse and later as a Warehouse Inventory Clerk at Hamilton Aviation, where he eventually retired. Hubert faced health challenges starting in 2016 but remained resilient, fighting with strength and determination.

Throughout his life, Hubert was known for his love of family and his enjoyment of travel. He frequently visited his homeland and cherished spending quality time with his loved ones. One of his greatest joys was family vacations spent on the beach, where he would relax with a drink in hand, soaking in the warmth and beauty of the Island.

Hubert was smart with a memory that was exceptional. His mental math skills were outstanding, he could calculate equations quicker than one who used paper and pencil (computers and adding machines were not available in his early life). He would assist in caring for the cows and milking them with his bare hands; he was so good he won a 4H scholarship to a farming camp.

Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Abdul and Estella Eduh, and his wife Hazel Eduh. He is survived by his children: Andrea, Courtney, Charmaine, Neger, and Gary Eduh. His stepdaughter; Joan "Mitzie" McFarlane, his granddaughters; Shanice, Shanelle, Tyra, and Teyrah, his grandsons; Daren, Dwayne, Jordan, Taeshaun and Tyewhan, as well as other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly. His bird named Buddy was his companion in his latter days.

A visitation for Hubert will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Southern, 15011 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, FL 33181. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 15011 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, FL 33181. A committal service will occur Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 2:15 PM to 2:30 PM, 15000 W Dixie Hwy, North Miami, FL 33181.
