Roberta S. Brady, age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Roberta was born on September 28, 1933 in Strawberry, Arkansas to parents Elbert and Hayath Hugg. She graduated from Strawberry High School. She married Coleman Brady on November 22, 1953 in Arbor Grove, Arkansas.
Roberta was a member of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ. She was a passionate supporter of the Children’s Home in Paragould, Arkansas for many years. Roberta was active in the church clothing ministry. She had also served as a 2nd grade bible school teacher for several years while living in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Roberta worked for Sears Roebuck for over 40 years. She was an Assistant Manager for over a decade and was presented with several sales awards during her career.
Roberta was a detail oriented person who was a very sharp dresser! She was very dedicated to her family and to her church family and friends. She enjoyed the written word and wrote many letters – she never missed sending a birthday card. She also enjoyed trips with her sister-in-law & her husband, Colleen and Charles as well as traveling with Jack and Norma. She loved traveling with the Senior Bowling team throughout the state as well as following NCAA Women’s Basketball and Men and Women’s Razorback Basketball.
Roberta was well known to all as an excellent cook. She loved pecan pie, going to Poncho’s Mexican restaurant in West Memphis and to Brittalings Cafeteria in Memphis. All of her family have special memories of her cooking Thanksgiving dinners for the family. Special memories also of going to Strawberry on Easter and hearing the Hugg siblings “cackling” (laughing). She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Roberta is preceded in death by her parents and her baby brother, David Hugg. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Coleman Brady; daughter Stephanie Deere (Steve) of Sherwood, AR; sons Bryan Brady of Sherwood, AR and Todd Brady (Becky) of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Stewart Deere, Taylor Brady, Chandler Simonson, Brandie Yuen and Coleman Brady and her surviving siblings Oma Oswalt, Alice Harris, Carolyn Trusty and Ruth Whitmire along with many other family members and cherished friends.
Due to the circumstances with current health concerns, Roberta is being memorialized in a small private service and interred in the Strawberry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roberta’s memory to the Children’s Home, Inc., 5515 Walcott Rd., Paragould, AR 72450.
