Richard Ben Nannen

He was born, May 29, 1938 in South Bend, Nebraska to Merril and Mary Nannen.

Papa was a dedicated husband, father, amazing grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a friend and loving person to all. He never met a stranger, whether family or work. He enjoyed, carpentry (building play sets for his grandkids), cooking out, tinkering around the yard, and golf. He loved his tomato garden and always picked strawberries every year with Grandma. He took pride in this “green grass” every summer. He was Santa to his neighbors and most of North Little Rock. Richard started his career at First National Bank, Lincoln, Nebraska and moved to First Commercial National Bank, Little Rock, AR for 30 years. He was one of the good guys. He lived his life as an example to be honest and kind, to be thankful for family, friends, and for the simple things.

He taught us all how to live in the moment and not to sweat the small things.

Richard is survived by his wife Bonnie Jean Nannen, married for 65 years, daughter Vicki Lynn Fields (Bruce) of Southlake, TX, Brenda Lea Pickard (Gary) of North Little Rock, AR, Denise Marie Nannen (deceased). Richard’s siblings are brother Delton Nannen (Virginia) in Colusa, CA, Dorothy McEwen in Lincoln, NE. Papa’s Grandchildren are Jacob Austin Fields (Amber), Grapevine, TX, Aaron Kyle Pickard (Alisha) Cabot, AR, Audrey Jo Fields (Dakota), North Little Rock, AR, Jeremy Lee Pickard, North Little Rock, AR. His Great Grandchildren are Callen Pickard, Kelly Fields, Finley Ramsey. He will welcome a grandson in May.

The service will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR on Thursday, March 10. Viewing will begin at 9:00 am and the service at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Lincoln, NE.
