At the age of 19 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico where he worked as an airplane mechanic. It is also where he met and fell in love with “Peppy” his wife of 61 years. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of Service.
“Pop” was an avid outdoors man who loved hunting and fishing. He was always happy when he was out in the shop working with his hands. He had a true talent for gun smithing, woodworking and repairing engines.
He was a Deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church and was also a 32nd Degree Mason as the Jacinto Masonic Lodge in Jacksonville.
Pop was greeted in heaven by his wife Peppy, son Dale Alan Wood, one brother Harrison “Jack”, one sister Dorothy Noel and his parents.
He is survived by his children Aida (Randy) Reaves, Kenneth (Dawne) Wood, Don (Sharon) Wood, 11 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Baptist Hospice in Little Rock and give a special thanks to Misty Clower for helping care for “Pop” in his last days.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
