JoAnne Millender Dempsey, age 73, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, in Conway, Arkansas. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late John and Maylene (Payer) Millender. In addition to her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy C. Dempsey.
Upon graduation from North Little Rock High School in 1969, JoAnne enlisted in the United States Air Force with her main duty assignment being in Omaha, Nebraska. While there she attained the rank of Sergeant. She later became a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent the majority of her nursing career at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Fort Roots in North Little Rock. She also attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. JoAnne's hobbies included reading, counted cross stitch, crocheting, and most recently, quilting. She was a long-time, and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in North Little Rock. She loved animals, but especially Yorkies and cats, of which she had several throughout her life.
Those left to cherish the memories of JoAnne include her sister Brenda (Doug) Meachum, nephews Michael (Brandy) Meachum and Chris (Rachael) Meachum, niece Melanie (Andrew) Hradesky, cousin Pat (Vicki) David of Texas, and several great-nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Davita Kidney Care in North Little Rock and Conway, Arkansas, her many physicians and nurses, and Rev. David Vandercook for their care and kindness.
