Farrell Edward Roberts passed away on March 22nd, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born to Jefferson and Jettie Lewis Roberts on July 22nd, 1935. He joined the Army on May 18, 1953, garnered the nickname “Bones” and served for 42 years, two months, and five days, until his retirement on July 22, 1995, at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Farrell is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Mark) Austen; her mother, Glenna Butler; grandchildren, Skyler Austen and Sydney Austen; his sister Charlotte Miner; nieces Shannon Flowers, Donna Garner, Paula Grandjean and Cheryl Roberts; and nephew Dean Miner. He is preceded in death by his parents Jefferson and Jettie Roberts and brother J.D. Roberts.
Farrell enjoyed restoring antique cars, woodworking projects and model trains. His Ford truck was always welcome in the driveways of his loved ones, and it always had a CD of “oldies” at the ready. He could often be found out in the sun on his McCormick tractor mowing his lawn with precision, or in his shop trying to get it to work. He loved to watch the birds from his breezeway, and his warm smile and dry sense of humor will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills on April 1, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a graveside service at the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock on April 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
