Norma Zimmer

Originally from New Haven, CT, she was the oldest daughter of Bertha and John “Jack” Stumpf. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in dental hygiene and worked in her profession for a number of years, including with the North Branford School District serving hundreds of students.

Boots is survived by her loving grandson Charles Giordano who has shared a home with her for the last seven years. Their special bond was nurturing and allowed for many moments of laughter and companionship.

Boots is also survived by her son Mark (Linda) Sagor of Boxborough, MA, Jonathan (Linda) of Peoria, AZ and David (Janice) Zimmer of Monroeville, PA. Boots was delighted by her grandchildren Alyssa (Eyal) Dayan of Glendale, AZ, Amy (Brian) Long of Peoria, AZ, Joseph (Cassie) Zimmer of San Marcos, CA, Joshua (Tara) Sagor of Hudson, MA, Rachel Sagor (Nick Maselli) of Brookline, MA Kimberly Paulson of Helena, MT, and Benjamin (Amanda) Zimmer and Joshua (Lindsay) Zimmer, both of Pittsburgh, PA.

Boots was predeceased by her first and second husbands Charles Sagor and Judah Zimmer, respectively; as well as her daughter Leslie Joyce, her son Robert Zimmer and her sister Doris Koeffer.

The warm smiles of Boots’ 20 great grandchildren kept her young through her 100th birthday. They include: Maya, Kayla and Ethan Dayan; Sydney and Justin Long; Callie and Connor Zimmer; Eliana, Isaiah, and Noah Sagor; Max and Sylvia Maselli; Christopher, Daniel, and Gabe Paulson; Judah and Eli Zimmer; Ella, Lilliana, and Hudson Zimmer.

Boots was a very loving and kind woman who reveled in spending time with her family and friends. There were many “Sunday Funday” gatherings with lots of laughs, storytelling, food and drink. She was a fierce competitor in cards, Mahjong and Scrabble. She loved her red car with a racing stripe and hitting the quarter slots at the casino. As her young great granddaughter would say, “she was a ‘fashion’”, timeless and chic.
