On the evening of July 30, 2021, Nancy Rugg Neiman passed away in her Coral Springs home, her entire immediate family and many friends lovingly at her side. Nancy was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to countless individuals. She was known for her effervescence, strength, beauty, hilarity, love, and dazzle. She was blessed to share 56 incredible years of marriage with her loving husband, Richard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and George Rugg, her nephew Jeffrey Rugg, her cousin Nathaniel Pier, and her cousin Rico Sager. Left to cherish the memories of her life are her 2 brothers, Stuart Rugg of Bedminster, NJ and Gary Rugg of Long Island, NY, her 2 children, Linda Netzer of Tampa, FL and Adrian Arkin of Miami Beach, FL, and her 3 grandchildren, Isaac and Deanna Netzer and Joseph Reuben Arkin, who affectionately knew her as Grammy.
Born Nancy Ann Rugg on December 10, 1945 to Mary and George Rugg in Brooklyn, NY, Nancy spent 75 years brightening every life that she touched. She grew up the youngest of three children and studied English at SUNY New Paltz. This is where she met her husband, Richard Neiman, who she later married in 1965. Together, Nancy and Richard enjoyed travelling around the world and learning about different cultures. Some of their favorite destinations were China, Israel, and Egypt. They settled in Coral Springs, FL, where they raised their two beautiful daughters. They also created a cherished summer home in Loch Sheldrake, NY, where they spent countless days together laughing and living life.
Nancy was well-known in various communities around the world. As a young adult, she joined the Sierra Club and was a dedicated activist for environmental and conservation causes. When her and Richard purchased the lakehouse in Loch Sheldrake, she became a member of the Loch Sheldrake Beach and Tennis Club, where she brightened the lakeside with her magnanimous energy and vibrant gardening. In recent years, she became an extremely talented bridge competitor and played at her local club, Quick Tricks, where she served as the Partner Chair.
Nancy’s life will be celebrated at her funeral on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 11:45am at Star of David Memorial Gardens in North Lauderdale, FL. The address is 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale FL, 33068. Visitation will be held at their Coral Springs home on Monday, August 2 from 2-?pm.
