Edwin "Ed" Patterson passed away on July 28, 2015 in Mission Community Hospital in Van Nuys, California. His life was taken by heart failure at 49 years old. Ed was born on September 7, 1965 in North Hollywood, California to Floyd and Edwina Patterson. He was the first of five children: Michael, Tacy, Susan, and Robert. He attended Ranchito Elementary School, Fulton Middle School (where he was in Mrs. Anderson's choir class), and James Monroe High School (where he sang, did musical theatre, and invented the Patterson Dance). Ed was proud to be a Monroe Viking, and was an avid Dodgers fan.
He married Elizabeth Zeytounian in 1989, and divorced in 2002. He never remarried.
Prior to his illness, Edwin worked as a manager, mentor, and leader to many employees through the years. A lifetime patriot, he loved reading about American battles and fighter planes. Tom Clancy was one of his favorite authors. Ever a lover of epic stories and adventures, Edwin adored games such as Dungeons and Dragons Online, where he was the founder of Windscar Elite. Even as he found it more difficult to leave his home, he met many online friends, some of whom became part of his extended family half a world away. They have been by his side through thick and thin and never failed to be there for his every hour of need.
He loved caring for his 13 hermit crabs, taking pictures of their ridiculous antics, and sending them to his daughter to make her laugh. He is survived by his one and only daughter, Jessica Ann Patterson, who loves him dearly.
Ed's funeral service will take place on Friday, August 7th at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park in NorthHollywood. The viewing will take place from 4 to 5 PM, followed by a service from 5 to 6 PM. A fund has been set up to help with the funeral costs, and support Ed's daughter Jessica.
