passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in
Burbank, California.
David was born on April 3, 1951 to Eugene and Beatrice
(Coston) Ling in Santa Monica, California. When David
was a young child, his family first lived in Brentwood,
California and then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
where the family spent many happy summers at the
summer home owned by David’s grandparents in Eagle
River, Wisconsin.
After a few years in Wisconsin, the family moved back to
California and settled in Pacific Palisades, where David
attended Corpus Christi Grade School and Loyola High
School.
Following his graduation from Loyola, he traveled for a
few years, visiting many countries in Europe. After
returning to the United States, he studied at the University
of Hawaii, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
A very creative person, David was passionate about
antiques, especially glasswork. He loved hunting for and
finding rare pieces. His passion for antiques and glass
translated itself into his first business, Chadwick/Ling
Glass Studios. After he left the business, David went on to
become a freelance dealer in the antiques field.
During his adulthood, David lived in California, Hawaii,
and again in Wisconsin. In addition to enjoying travel, he
loved swimming and surfing in the ocean, golfing,
watching and attending sports games-especially football,
and socializing with his many friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and
Gene Ling, brother Michael Ling, and nephew Nicholas
Ling. He is survived by his four remaining siblings, James,
John, Bettina, and Barbara Ling (Lindsay); sister-in-law
Betsy Duffy Ling; nieces Heather Ling Isroelit (Todd), and
Julie Ling; nephews Benjamin, Bryan, and Stephen Ling
(Janna); great-nephews Hunter and Brooks Ling, and
great-nieces Jessica Isroelit, Emma Isroelit, and Ember
Ling, along with numerous cousins and friends.
Along with his artistic nature, David was known for his
loyalty, warmth, infectious smile, and his kind and
compassionate spirit. Loved by his friends and family, he
will be deeply missed. A memorial service for him will be
planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in David’s memory can be
made to the Ocean Conservancy at https://
