Susan Angela O'Neil

Susan was born on February 12, 1975, in Seoul, South Korea. She was adopted in 1976 by James and Barbra Moffatt, and grew up near Frederick, MD. Susan graduated from Linganore High School in New Market, MD, in 1993 and then earned an Associate’s Degree from Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD. Susan was a gifted artist and skilled chef. She worked primarily in event planning, bakeries and restaurants where her creativity and culinary skills excelled. Most recently she was employed as a cook at the Swig and Swine restaurant in Charleston, SC.

Susan was devoted to her daughter, Ava Johnson, and step-children, Zachary and Kylie Johnson. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her bubbly personality brought joy to any occasion.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Ava Johnson, and Ava’s father, Aaron Johnson, both of Charleston, SC; her parents, James and Barbra Moffatt, of Westminster, MD; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Barbetta Moffatt, of Hanover, PA; a niece, Jessica Staub, and nephews, Jesse Moffatt, Peter Moffatt and David Moffatt, all of Hanover, PA; and a great-niece, Brooklyn Starner, and great-nephew, Landyn Staub, of Hanover, PA.

A viewing will be held at noon on December 29, 2022, at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC, with a funeral service and burial to follow at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Korean Adoptee Family Foundation (KORAFF) or to AMOR Healing Kitchen of Charleston, SC.
