Ed is survived by his four children A.J. Livingston, Edward Livingston II (Rosie), Patricia Marek (Randy), Sandra Henry (Charlie), 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joyce, his brothers PH Livingston, John Ashe Livingston, James Randall and Alberta L. Bradley.
Ed attended North Charleston Elementary School and Carlisle Military Academy, graduating his senior year at Williston Elko High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and started Port City Auto Supply in 1958. Ed’s passion was Auto Racing and he was a Legend of the Dirt Track Midget Car Racing. He also drove for Reynolds Tobacco Racing Team and in 1959 won 13 consecutive races. He later drove independently and was named Nascar’s Rookie of the Year in 1963.
Ed was a Mason and Past Master of his lodge in 1973, an Omar Shrine Temple member as well as a member of the Shriner’s Honda Patrol.
He was an avid airplane pilot. He also loved scuba diving and had the first chartered scuba club in Charleston, “The Charleston Reef Raiders.”
We loved our Dad and D-daddy and will always miss him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, SC or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A Graveside Service will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406, will be held on Friday at 11:00 am. In case of rain the service will be held in the Funeral Home's Chapel.
