Charles Everett Cox Sr., 84, of Hanahan, SC, died peacefully on October 8, 2017. He was widower of Mary Louise Murdaugh Cox who proceeded him in 2012. They were married for 54 years. He was born June 28, 1933 to Luther & Ida Belle Cox in Evans, GA. He served in the US Army & SC Army National Guard. After his service in the Army, he worked for Westvaco as an Operator in the Finishing & Shipping Department for 44 years. He was an avid fan of all sports especially the Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family and reminiscing old times with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a lifetime member at the Carolina Lodge #375 AFM. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Leonard Cox, Harold Cox, William Cox and Donald Cox. Survived by two sons, Charles E. Cox Jr. (Robin) and Stanley Cox (Alyse); daughter, Sharron Cox Lent (Lloyd); sister, Patricia Cox Martin; grandchildren, Lindsey Anthony (Kyle), Chanler Cox, Cameron Cox, Trey Lent and Sean Lent; great-grandchildren, Tyler Anthony, Logan Anthony, Drew Lent, Hudson Lent and Lucas Lent. The Family would like to send a special Thank You to Mary Green, his care taker for her compassion and love to our beloved Dad. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 3pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, North Charleston. Visitation will be from 2pm until time for the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pittman Street Baptist Church, 5105 Pittman Street, North Charleston, SC 29405.
