Catherine E. Brown

Born in Charleston, SC on August 11, 1942, Cathy was the daughter of the late Hazel Roberts and Albert Hudson.

Cathy was a very independent woman. It was difficult to change her mind after it was made up. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and they would want for nothing if she could help it. Cathy was a loving and affectionate mother but had high expectations and there were always consequences if you got in trouble. That was just her way of preparing her children for life.

Cathy and Roy enjoyed life together and were good to, and for each other. They would spend Friday and Saturday nights at the club dancing and would often attend shag competitions. This time was usually spent with their closest friends, Shorty and JD Brown. They also enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Cathy retired as a manager from Charleston School Food Services, which allowed her time to spend taking care of her great granddaughters.

Cathy is survived by son, Wallace Brown Braun and husband Edward Braun; daughter Toni Golden and husband Raymond Golden; granddaughter, Jessica Carrier and fiancé James White; great granddaughters, Hailey Fischer and Hannah White and her life partner of over 40 years, Roy Jackson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cathy was preceded in death by daughter, Kelly Brown.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremations located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. A graveside service will follow immediately Carolina Memorial Park.
