Lifelong Oklahoma resident, Viola Lucille Burke, 73, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024 in Norman, Oklahoma. On October 1, 1950, Lucille was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Alvin Eugene Norton and Pearl Dean (Martin) Howard.
Lucille worked for 34.5 years for Norman Public Schools Transportation Department. While there she trained many people how to drive school buses and helped them achieve their CDLs. Lucille also sold Tupperware for many years. In her free time, she loved to listen to Elvis Presley, reading books and spending time with family. If something was purple, it was almost guaranteed that she would like it.
Viola married the love of her life, Robert “Robin” Dean Burke, on September 7, 1972. Their union resulted in three loving children, Selena, Kyle, and Tamara. Robin and Lucille spent a wonderful 42 years together until Robin’s passing in 2014.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband Robin and father Alvin Eugene Norton.
Those left to cherish Lucille’s memory are her children Selena Belvin (Kelly) of Norman, Oklahoma, Kyle Burke (Kayla) of Easley, South Carolina, and Tamara Banks (Chris) of Norman, Oklahoma; mother Pearl Dean Howard of Norman, Oklahoma; sister Lucine Wagner (Bobby) of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren Kira Burke, Rhyse Jernigen, Kylie Burke, Noa Patat, Anthony Banks, Hunter Banks, Kamryn Burke, Brooklyn Patat, and Phoebe Burke; great granddaughter Natalie Dorsey; nephew Robin Wagner; and great nephew Taran Wagner.
A funeral service for Viola will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
