Tanya was born January 5, 1974 in the town of Biloxi, Mississippi at Kessler Air Force Base. Born with Neurofibromatosis Type 1, she was always prepared for the obstacles and challenges that may come her way throughout her short life. She graduated from Trinity High School in Euless Texas in 1992 and went onto Jacksonville College where she was very active in the choir. Following graduation from Jacksonville, she pursued a degree as a Paralegal and graduated from Angelina College in 2001. Shortly after, she relocated to Moore, Oklahoma to be closer to family. Tanya had a genuine, kind and caring heart and always had a passion to help others. This was evident to any person who knew her. She went back to school to become a Medical Assistant and spent the last couple of years working for various hospitals within the metro.
Over the last few years, Tanya’s passion became running. She was very active in the community and completed several runs including 5K especially those that were supporting the Children’s Tumor Foundation. She participated in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, Moore War Run, Red Bud Classic and other local runs. She was very involved in her church and enjoyed spending time with the women of her Sunday school class. More than anything, her love for Coca-Cola memorabilia superseded everything. From a little girl until her passing, she was an avid collector. She loved spending time and playing with her great niece and nephews, as they were the light of her life.
Tanya was loved by so many. She loved to make people smile and laugh and she was a pillar of strength throughout her battle. She has taught us how to be strong during the difficult times and she has taught us the true meaning of being a warrior.
