Ronald Wayne (Ron) Rogers, 85, passed from this life, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at his residence in Norman, Oklahoma. Ron was born November 22, 1937, in Jal, New Mexico, to Eugene and Dale (Carrier) Rogers. Shortly after Ron's birth, the family moved to Goldsmith, Texas, where they stayed until Ron was 10. The family then moved on to Owens Prairie, Oklahoma where Ron graduated from Bray High School in Bray Oklahoma. After completing college prerequisites at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, Ron graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later completed a Master's in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Ron married Joanna Sue (Jo) Jacks in Marlow, Oklahoma September 20, 1957, when he was 19 years old and she 18. For the next few years, they adventured through the oilfields of West Texas during the Summer months, living in a travel trailer while Ron worked as a roughneck to earn money for each semester's college tuition and living expenses. Though the years were lean, they both looked at that time as some of their most memorable years. After attaining his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ron took his small family to Big Piney, Wyoming, then to Great Bend, Kansas, and finally settled in Norman, Oklahoma for the remainder of his life. Ron spent most of his aerospace career as an engineer at Tinker Air Force Base and the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, retiring after 40 years of Federal service. Ron enjoyed and mastered the art of woodworking and furniture making. He loved vacationing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, good barbecue, great music, and OU football. He will be remembered as a man with a quick smile and a sparkling eye, a gifted engineer, a calm, patient, and diplomatic man who would rather find a solution than argue or fight, a loving husband, brother, son, father, and grandfather, and a hero in the lives of those who loved him. Ron cared about the outcomes and always went the extra mile to ensure that every outcome was as good as it could be. More than anything else, he will be remembered as a man with a true love story, who adored his wife above all things and who shared an unstoppable love with her that will transcend his passing. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Walker Rogers and Dale Cowan Carrier Rogers, his sister Wanda Louise Searcy, his son Sean Patrick Rogers, and great-grandson Evan Gabriel Manchester. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna Sue Rogers; his children, Angela Kay Manchester Cannon, her husband, Robert Bruce Cannon, Jr., Matthew Aaron Rogers, and his wife, Rebekah Lynn Rogers; his grandchildren, Christopher Lane Manchester, Sean Paul Manchester, his husband Devin Symmonds, Shannon Brooke Manchester, Brittain Alexander Manchester, his wife, Elva Ramirez, Aaron Andrew Rogers, John-Michael Edward Rogers and four great-grandchildren, Jonas Day Manchester, Chance Symmonds, Kaden Rozo, and Ares Rozo.
