She was born April 18, 1928, to Elsie Irene Sloan in Jet, Oklahoma. On May 29, 1948, she married Dan Finley “Toby” Sims at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. They resided in Norman.
After earning his degree, Toby had a career in the U.S. Army, and the family was stationed around the country and overseas. Mary and Toby lived a total of seven years in Germany and traveled much of Europe together.
Mary was a longtime member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an avid OU supporter, loved to socialize, and thoroughly enjoyed playing and teaching bridge.
Survivors include her daughters Barbara Sims Fletcher of Denver, CO; Glenda Carol (Steve B. Bryant) Sims of Oklahoma City; and Rebecca Lynn (Karl J. DeLozier) Sims of Wichita Falls, TX; her grandchildren Aaron Isaac DeLozier of Wichita Falls, TX; Anna Kate Reisman of Oklahoma City; David Andrew DeLozier of Wichita Falls, TX; and great-grandchildren Katalina Amelia Rose DeLozier and Dylan Isaac DeLozier; and dearest friend, Helen Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her, Mary Albia Lawyer; husband and father of her children, Toby Sims; and husband Grant C. Marburger.
