Marion Davis Byrd

On June 14, 1958 Marion married Virginia Lois (Adams) Byrd and they divorced few months later. Marion joined the army on December 3, 1959 and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1962.

Marion’s career was as an automobile mechanic and his passion was animals.

Marion remarried and had two children by his second wife. Daughter Debria Ann (Byrd) Partain in 1961 and a son Steven Wayne Byrd in 1963.

Marion remarried and had two children by his third wife. Daughter Tina Ann (Byrd) (Jackson) Terry in 1969 and son Michael Ray Byrd in 1971.

Marion gave his heart and love to his creator and served God faithfully for the rest of his days.

After thirty three years Marion and V. Lois remarried on June 14, 1991. Marion became a second father to three children John Ray Morgan, Debra Lois Morgan, and James Andrew Morgan.

Marion maintained the church bus and mowed the grounds of the Church at its location on E Robinson in Norman and then its location on 36th Ave NW. He and his wife have attended Quest for many years and name changes first Norman Tabernacle, then Heartland Harvest Church, now as Quest Church.

Marion and Lois worked in many capacities for the church and did not at any time receive even a penny of pay. They started the church nursery in a room the size of a small walk-in closet. Taking bread to visitors and getting to know them. Marion worked as a greater for several years. Lois oversaw the alter ministry and wrought the alter ministry handbook. Lois answered the church phones before services so that Pastor Ronnie Harrison would not need to.

Marion left this world in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 13, 2021 to be with his Lord and God for all eternity.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents Marion Daniel Byrd and Lydie Lee (Hanna) Byrd, and by his granddaughter Joine Renay Byrd., and great-grandchild Jaylyn.

Marion leaves behind his wife of almost thirty years, his sister Clara (Byrd) Pyle, and brothers Raymond Byrd, Clifford Byrd, W.C. (Willie Charles) Byrd, R.J. (Richard Jackson) Byrd, and Lee Alton Byrd , 12 grandchildren, and multiple great grandchildren.
