Jo Ann Bauernschmitt was born on February 11, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ralph Maxwell and Jessie (Nessa) Roope. She grew up in Oklahoma City attending Oklahoma City Public Schools graduating from Northwest Classen High School. She married Robert Cordonnier in 1960 and the made their home in Oklahoma City where she served her family as a homemaker. Robert preceded her in death in 1972 and she continued to make Oklahoma City her home. She later married Alvin Bauernschmitt and they made their home in Moore. Alvin preceded her in death in 1992 and she continued to live in Moore until 1995 when she moved to Norman.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her aunt, Sadie Leaf.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hobbs and husband Jason of Norman; two grandchildren, Courtney Love and Garrett Hobbs both of Norman; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Love and Colton Pool both of Norman; four step children, Kelly Bauernschmitt of Noble, Steve Bauernschmitt of Norman, Shelly Johnson of Davis, and Charlotte Pruitt of Davis; numerous step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Rosehill Cemetery. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
