Chester was born in Enid Oklahoma on November 27, 1943 to Harold J. Black and Edna (Richardson) Langley. He attended Lamont High School and graduated in 1963. He went on to study at Northern Oklahoma College, then to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Academy, graduating in 1967.
Chester served as a State Trooper with OHP for 20 years. He served on Gov. George Nigh’s security detail from 1979 to 1981. Chester served as a Oklahoma City Marshal, Federal Officer with the Air Operations, Chief of Police in Medford and Homney, and Director of Security.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He looked forward to playing cards, golfing, and going out to eat with friends. He treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his motorcycle trip to Sturgis, and his trips to Germany, Canada and Italy. He enjoyed being a member of the 10-45 Breakfast Club.
Chester is preceded in death by his father Harold J. Black, his step-mother Thelma Black, his mother Edna Langley, his step-father Herb Langley, his grandparents: Lena and Fred Richardson, and Nettie and Arthur Black.
Left to cherish his precious memories is his wife of 22 years, Shirley Black, his children, Leiana Victor, Holly Baldwin Zeid and husband Yasser Zeid, Nick Brandt and wife Jamie Brandt, and Annabelle Brandt. His brother Jack Black and wife Ann Black. Grandchildren Trey Austin Haug, Frances Baldwin, Michael Brandt, Valerie McRay his nieces Jana Webb and Kari Lively.
A visitation for Chester will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Primrose Funeral Service with graveside service to follow at Lamont Cemetery in Lamont Oklahoma.
