Charles Allen Short, affectionately known as Charlie, passed away Monday, August 12th, 2024 at his home in North Las Vegas, NV at the age of 59. After a long hard-fought battle with cancer, his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those all across the country who had the pleasure of knowing what a caring, kind-hearted individual Charlie was. He was born Friday, February 5th, 1965 in Oakland, California. The oldest of 6 siblings, Charles was raised near Lakeland Florida with his sister and brothers until the early summer of '82 when his family moved to Oklahoma where he graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1983. It was in Oklahoma City that he met the love of his life Emma Jo and enlisted for the United States Air Force. Senior Master Sergeant Charles Short proudly dedicated 25 years of service before retiring from active duty in May of 2008. He then continued his career in aircraft maintenance scheduling as a contractor in the United States Air Force at Nellis AFB until late 2023. In his free time Charlie enjoyed road trips and adventure, whether it was a small ghost town or a major amusement park he was always ready. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing, ATVing, woodworking or just sitting out in the garage with the radio on and a beer in his hand. An avid fan of stock car racing he never missed a NASCAR weekend and would campout at the track whenever he could. A devoted husband, and father, he loved nothing more than to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years: Emma; Sons: Jeff of Kansas City, MO, his wife Erica and their children Connor, Emma, Chase and Ellie (who knew him as Cowpa); Alex of Las Vegas, NV, his daughter Serena and grandchild Micah. He was preceded in death by his father Dale Short and mother Carol Short (Brown). He is survived by his siblings; Jimmy and his wife Robin, Theresa, Joe Dean and his wife Misty, Kevin and his wife Wendi and Michael and his wife Sam along with his aunt Ellen Short. Charles was known to go above and beyond when lending a helping hand and was always there for friends and family whenever advice was needed. He will be remembered dearly for his easy going attitude, good humor, and open armed generosity.
