Roosevelt Lee, Sr., 91, passed away on August 8, 2024. He was born on May 1, 1933 to the late Robert and Fannie Kimble-Lee in Queen City of Princess Anne County (Virginia Beach), Virginia. Roosevelt Sr. was the last alive of his four siblings and lived a long blessed life.
By trade, Roosevelt was a former Pre-owned Car Dealer. He had a unique gift of persuasion like no other. He provided for 12 children and his late wife by selling pre-owned vehicles throughout the state of Virginia and beyond. Roosevelt believed and trusted in the Lord, Jesus Christ as his Savior and would always tell his children, "keep your hands in God's unchanging hands".
Roosevelt (Row) was best known for his humor and notorious sayings such as "has a cat got it?", "you ugly mammah tappa", "nipple mouth", "are you bragging or complaining?", "enducee", "a whale", "I have an appointment" and so on...Roosevelt was a sharp dresser who never owned a pair of blue jeans. His favorite past time was listening to the late comedians Moms Mabley and Flip Wilson. He enjoyed laughing and making people laugh.
Roosevelt was very fit and athletic in his younger years and maintained his faculties until the day he passed. From the age of 65, Roosevelt lived with type 2 diabetes but managed by eating well and exercising. Roosevelt was in the care of his late son's widow, Theresa (Bradford) for the past eight years of his life. In the last few months of Roosevelt's life, his blood sugar levels became erratic and completely out of control claiming his life.
Roosevelt Lee, Sr. leaves behind to cherish his memory: Ten children, Sylvia (Melvin), Roosevelt Jr. (June), Theresa, Leonia, Gloria, Benjamin, Gilbert, Kenneth (Shay), Claudia, Bruce; and a widowed daughter in-law (Theresa); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
The family is grateful to the staff at Trinity Hospice team for the love and care of their dear father and grandfather, Roosevelt (Row). May he rest in peace in the bosom of Christ.
