Deacon Paul Stanley Scott entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was born on January 25, 1938 to the late Pious Joe and Marie Scott. His mother passed when he was two years old, and he was raised by Eula Bell Scott. He completed Military School and College at the age of seventeen and joined the United States Navy. He served as a Chief Warrant Officer for 22 years prior to retiring. He subsequently served as a Senior Engineering Technologist with BAE Systems (Defense Contractor) for an additional 20 years and retired. Although retired from employment, he was not idle. He enjoyed carpentry, wood working and gardening. He found great joy in sharing the fruits of his labor and trying to live the life that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, wanted him to live until he was called to eternal rest.
He joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church on September 10, 2006 by Profession of Christian experience. He wasted no time in becoming actively involved with the Male Usher Ministry serving as a member and Treasurer. He later was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Henry A. Davis. He faithfully served the Diaconate Ministry as Treasurer and on the church Benevolence Committee. He was partnered with his trusted friend Deacon Roy Pope, together they served and planned cookouts for the members assigned to them. He enjoyed helping others and serving the membership of Olive Grove until his health became challenged by illness in 2022.
His favorite Hymn was “Amazing Grace,” and his favorite scripture was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Deacon Scott was married to Deaconess Eunice Scott. Together they had a loving blended family. He has one son, Paul J. Scott from his previous marriage and Deaconess Eunice had a daughter, Janice Orama and two granddaughters, Courtney Shay Beamon and Ashley E. Beamon.
Deacon Scott is predeceased in death by his parents, brothers, Andrew Clark, Freeman Scott and James Scott and his sisters, Ida Mae Patterson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Deaconess Eunice of 18.5 years, his son and daughter in love, his two granddaughters; sisters Rosetta Cook and Earline Hughes, sisters-in-law; Sue Scott, Rosalind Scott, Inez Barnette, O.D. Davis, Annie D. Williams, Katie L. Williams and April Carson; his brothers, Raymond (Carolyn) Scott, Joe Ellis (Yvonne) Scott, Richard (Madoline) Scott, Stewart (Alonlia) Scott, David Scott and Daniel Scott; brothers-in-law, Mel Carson, Billy Carson, Richard Carson and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deacon Paul Stanley Scott was a great man of God and will be greatly missed.
