Obituario de Andrew Peter Friedrich Jr.
Andrew (Andy) Peter Friedrich Jr went to his heavenly home on July 29, 2023, at the age of 76. After a long struggle with Parkinson's disease, he is finally at peace and in no more pain. Andy will be missed more than words can express, but his family rejoices that he is now with his Savior – healthy and whole at last. Hallelujah! Andy was born on September 22, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to Andrew and Eileen Friedrich. After graduating high school, Andy entered the Air Force at 19 years old and was stationed in California. After serving in the military, he played college basketball for Marquette University under the famous Coach Al McGuire. Sports always played a significant role in Andy's life, and he went on to work in sales for the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team in Wisconsin. Andy's passion for sports continued into adulthood as he coached his kid's sports teams. Few things made him happier than watching his children on the ball field. In 1981, he married the love of his life, Terry Anne Meeuwsen, and together, the couple created an amazing family – raising seven children together in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Andy enjoyed many years working in fundraising and development at his children's schools and several other companies where he was a great asset in sales. He genuinely loved people, and these jobs allowed him to create and foster wonderful friendships – many of which have lasted to this day. Above all, Andy was a faithful son, brother, husband, and father. He loved his family with all his heart and made sure that they knew it. Andy will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Terry, along with their children, Drew Friedrich III (Kysha), Tory Breland (Shaun), Tyler Friedrich (Sarah), J.P. Friedrich, Alysa Friedrich, Zoya Stoudenmire, and Sophia Friedrich. Andy was the best Papa to his seven grandchildren – Isabella Piazza, Drew Friedrich IV, Sydney Breland, Jeremiah Stoudenmire, Zarena Stoudenmire, Luka Friedrich, and Kira Friedrich. Andy will be missed by his siblings, Mike Friedrich, Bill Friedrich, and Maredith Stoffel. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Andrew Peter Friedrich Sr and Eileen McCall Friedrich. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday, August 4. A time of fellowship will begin at 9:30 AM, with the service directly following at 10:00 AM. Interment and reception will follow. The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice Care and Sheila's Place for the incredible care and love that they showed Andy during his final months. Special thanks to Nicole Aquinongoc and Vivian Futrell for going above and beyond – you have become like family, and we will forever be grateful to you. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Andy's honor to Orphan's Promise, the children's ministry of CBN, which serves the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide. Although the ministry was founded by his wife, Terry Meeuwsen, without Andy bravely saying "yes" to their own family's God-Adventure nearly 20 years ago, Orphan's Promise would not exist today.
