Rita Landeche Hymel reunited with the love of her life, Dumas Vincent Hymel, on March 4, 2018 at the age of 94. She is survived by her children, Ralph J. Hymel (Marilyn), James K. Hymel (Kathleen), Helen H. Banquer (Dennis), Judy H. Davis, Clyde P. Hymel (Sara), and Theresa H. Naff (Samuel). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way, as well as her siblings, George Landeche, Roger Landeche, Wesley Landeche, Lorraine Rodrigue, and Henry Landeche Jr.
She is preceded in death by her son, Kenneth J. Hymel (Judith F. Hymel), great-grandchild Elise Anne Sherrer, daughter-in-law, Valerie Hymel, parents, Henry and Pauline Lousteau Landeche, and her siblings, Claude Landeche, Alvin Landeche, Harold Landeche, Marie Louise Bourgeois, Anna Mae Melancon, Floyd Landeche, and Roy Landeche.
Rita took pride in her time spent as a switch board operator on Keesler Air Force base, as well as the time after high school she spent as a teacher for St. Charles Parish Schools, but her proudest accomplishment was that as a homemaker where she raised her 7 loving children. In her later years she enjoyed traveling and spending time with the people she loved the most, her family.
Relatives and friends are invited a visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, beginning at 9 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM.
