He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Andre and Isabelle Zeringue, and his siblings, Nelwyn Ann Zeringue and Janice “Dee Dee” Hymel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Becnel Zeringue, his children, Paul Zeringue Jr. (Norma), Melissa Allred (Steven), and Jason Zeringue (Maritza), and grandchildren, Jasmine “Jazzy” Zeringue, Emily “EZ” Zeringue, Shawn Allred, Nathan Allred, Lucas Allred, Wrenn Allred, Jason Zeringue, Abigayle Zeringue, Diego Velarde, and Lucas Velarde. He is also survived by his siblings, James Zeringue (Dale), Isabelle Benoit (Carlton), Gayle Bourgeois, Ronald Zeringue (Irma), and Jenny Oncale.
Paul graduated from Hahnville High School in 1963 and went on to complete a technical program in electronics at Delgado. He was then drafted into the United States Army, served during Vietnam War, and was awarded the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge. After he was honorably discharged in 1968 he began a 30 year career at Union Carbide in Taft, LA working as a production technician and in stores. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Odile Becnel on April 20, 1968 and they went on to raise a wonderful family together. Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid farmer, hunter, and fisherman. He was a skilled marksman and enjoyed going on hunting trips with his family and friends. Farming vegetables and raising livestock was also a staple throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father, supportive brother, and proud grandfather who will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, 821 Fourth St. Norco, LA from 6PM – 8PM with a Rosary to begin at 7:30PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1 Rectory Ln. Hahnville, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:30AM – 11AM with a Mass to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.
